Prof. Dr. med. Gerrit Matthes

Gerrit is one of the five medical initiators and co-founders of CONUS. He brings more than 25 years of experience in trauma and reconstructive surgery.

After specialist training in Berlin and Greifswald, he was senior physician at BG Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin. Since 2018, he has headed the Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery at Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann in Potsdam, a supraregional trauma center.

Gerrit is committed nationwide to the further development of trauma care. He led the DGU section for emergency, intensive care, and severe injury care, is a board member of ATLS Germany, and was included in the 2025 FOCUS list of top physicians for trauma surgery.
